A Day in the Life of a Local Barber: Insights from Ethan “Prince” Carter.

By Owen Vetter

With an increase in Lake Havasu barbers, high school students are always looking for a clean cut at an affordable price. The local barber shops never get that crisp feel anymore, so students look beyond the shops and find independent clippers that fit their needs. Amongst the many barbers, Ethan “Prince” Carter stands out as a young newcomer to the field. His intense determination sets him apart from the others.

Prince describes his typical day as “getting the shop set up, music bumpin’, ring light on, and equipment sanitized. Really, I just get to listen to music all day while cutting hair.”

Prince’s style of communication makes him so personable that people of all ages can have a comfortable and heartfelt conversation with him. He really meets the standards that all teenagers are looking for. Due to his young age, he has a strong connection with the youth around town, and he is highly recommended by students.

Prince occasionally encounters clients who may be difficult or dissatisfied with their service, but he goes the extra mile to ensure they leave that chair with a good smile and happy heart. These clients may be frustrating, but Prince notes they are crucial because they “test your skills and help you perfect those haircuts.” Prince strives to have all clients leave his shop with the utmost confidence.

He never discourages others from experimenting with barbering, and he often promotes it because it is a great experience that offers much to learn. He advises that you take to the internet and watch all the videos you can because the more you know creates a better barber.

Prince says that even after his success and confidence, he watches tutorials daily because there is always more to perfect and a technique to learn. Prince knows that with a willing barber, “every cut will be better than the last.”
